Why you should join

Climbing at Home CliffAs an ACC Ottawa member, you can participate in weekly local trips and activities, courses, and social events. You can also take part in our summer camps and the ACC’s renowned General Mountaineering Camp, held in the Rockies each summer.

You’ll be kept up-to-date on Club activities through our quarterly newsletter The Leader, and our weekly e-letter activity and news update. You will also receive the ACC national news magazine, the Gazette.

We encourage all members to get involved in organizing trips, activities, courses and social events to help ensure the Section provides all the adventure, fun and conviviality that our members are looking for.

When you join the Ottawa Section of the ACC, you automatically become a member of the National Club of the Alpine Club of Canada. Here’s why you should join:

  • Take part in our local rock climbing, hiking, ice climbing, skiing and snowshoeing activities.
  • Travel further afield in Ontario and New England for our weekend adventures.
  • Come west with us each summer for big-mountain hiking and mountaineering adventures during our section camps.
  • Take a course, learn to climb rock or ice, or get more advanced training.
  • Receive our weekly e-letter, with up-to-the-minute news on local activities of interest to you.
  • Get our quarterly newsletter The Leader
  • Participate in the National ACC’s ski and climbing camps in western Canada.

To be part of the Ottawa section of the ACC, you simply join our national organization and select affiliation with our section. The cost for Ottawa Section members is $46 per year. When you join the ACC, you also have other membership options, including reduced fees at ACC huts in Western Canada and subscription to the Canadian Alpine Journal, published annually by the National Club.
